Cohort 1 Outcomes

Grandparents in the Classroom

There are so many students and more specifically black and brown students who are not learning at the rate of their counterparts. Grandparents could be a great resource in assisting these students. Grandparents can serve as a constant, reliable presence for children in need of positive adult role models. Connecting generations provides both students and grandparents with a chance to learn, share, and form a bond. Grandparents in schools can change the lives of the children. It also changes the lives of grandparents and the teachers and staff who support them. Grandparents in schools is about learning and also about service, joy, and connection.

Winter Coat Drive

Providing much-needed winter accessories for students at Wyandotte High School is made possible by a partnership with the Kansas City Kansas Chamber of Commerce. This year (2022-2023), the drive produced more than 75 coats.

Our Wyandotte High School Bulldog Clothing Closet is available to any student who is needing clothing for school, work, or the changing seasons.  The donation of coats from the Kansas City, Kansas Chamber of Commerce was a huge help for the winter season to ensure that we had all sizes and styles to meet our students’ needs.  We have a large student body, as well as students from all over the world, and helping them to be comfortable and equipped for our cold winters makes all the difference!  Thank you again Kansas City, Kansas Chamber of Commerce for your kindness!
